Studio Sherborne regularly welcomes a variety of guest events hosted by local artists, makers, and organisations. From creative workshops and inspiring talks to supper clubs, yoga, and Pilates, there’s always something new to discover.

Discover the Art of Landscape Painting with Fernando Velázquez
5 week course starting Wednesday from 24th September, 6.30-8.30 pm
Step into a world of creativity and expression with this comprehensive Landscape Painting Course, designed for both beginners and experienced artists looking to expand their skills and develop their unique style.
Throughout the course, you will:
Explore key art movements, including Impressionism, Realism, Expressionism, and Abstraction
Learn to adapt techniques to different visual styles and discover your artistic voice
Master the fundamentals of composition, colour theory, and brushwork
Work confidently with your chosen mediums, including; oils, acrylics, or watercolours
Capture the magic of light, atmosphere, and natural detail in your landscapes
Study the methods of the great masters and apply their timeless techniques
Sharpen your observational skills to portray the world with clarity and emotion
Develop strategies to build a personal, cohesive painting style
Create a professional landscape painting portfolio that reflects your vision
By the end of the course, you’ll not only have the skills to paint breathtaking landscapes but also the confidence to express your creativity with purpose. Transform your love of landscapes into works of art!

About Fernando Velazquez
Fernando Velázquez is a Spanish painter, based in Dorset, creating work that explores the power of nature and the imagination. Across series such as Paintings of the Floating World, Through the Veil, and Animas, his distinctive style blends echoes of classical art with a contemporary vision.
Fernando has exhibited internationally in London, New York, Madrid, Venice, Milan, Vancouver, Florence, Bogota, and Krakow, with his work featured in numerous private and public collections worldwide, including Universal Records and the Steven Rosenberg Gallery.
Wellbeing Art Classes with ArtLife
Weekly on Thursdays and Fridays
Art Life offers art classes at Studio Sherborne for adults currently experiencing mental health challenges. They provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where creativity is used to nurture wellbeing and self-expression.
Sessions are led by a professional art tutor who guides participants through a wide range of materials and techniques. No previous artistic experience is needed; complete beginners are welcome. Alongside developing creative skills, participants have the opportunity to build social connections and peer support in a friendly, understanding environment.
Who it’s for: Adults experiencing challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, grief, SAD, loneliness, and low self-esteem
Cost: Suggested contribution of £10 per session

Art Life is dedicated to helping individuals gain confidence, connect with others, and express themselves creatively.

Spacious & Flexible – The entire ground floor is available for hire, making it ideal for larger events thanks to its generous size.
Gallery Room Hire – For smaller workshops, talks, and exhibitions, the space can be hired by the hour. Offering ample space to showcase your work, with a range of lighting and display options
All hires have access to a kitchenette, bar/counter, sink, tables, chairs, and unisex loo!
