Fernando Velazquez
Fernando Velázquez is a Spanish painter based in Dorset whose work explores the power of nature and the imagination. Across series such as Paintings of the Floating World, Through the Veil, and Animas, his distinctive style weaves echoes of classical art with a contemporary vision.
He has exhibited internationally in London, New York, Madrid, Venice, Milan, Vancouver, Florence, Bogotá, and Kraków, and his work is held in numerous private and public collections worldwide, including Universal Records and the Steven Rosenberg Gallery.
Alongside his studio practice, Fernando is a highly experienced and deeply respected educator. He is Head of Art at Sherborne Prep School, where he is known as a local champion for young artists, inspiring students at the very beginning of their creative journeys.
About the space
All our workshops take place in our downstairs studio, which offers step-free access. Led by our talented community of local artists and tutors, each session includes all the materials you’ll need—though you’re welcome to bring your own if there’s something special you’d like to use.
We have a range of seating options to keep you comfortable, including high workbenches with stools, standard tables and chairs, and easels.
Tea and coffee are available at every workshop, and you’re always welcome to BYOB. Toilets are located on the ground floor.
Studio Sherborne is set in a characterful old industrial unit. While we’ll do our best to keep things cosy, the space can be a little chilly at times—so we recommend bringing an extra layer or two to stay warm and comfortable.
